A jack of many trades.

Kate’s debut solo graphic novel (with colours by Diana Sousa) Mall Goth is out NOW from Simon & Schuster’s YA division, Simon Teen. You can order and find out more about the book here!

Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Kate Leth began publishing comics online in 2011. After building an audience on tumblr with their autobiographical work and regular comics for now-defunct geek hub ComicsAlliance, they wrote three Adventure Time graphic novels for KaBoom! including the Marceline-centric Seeing Red, which made the NYT Bestseller list for Graphic Novels. In addition, they penned three volumes of Bravest Warriors, a Fraggle Rock collection and drew several covers, backup stories and more.

From there, Kate pursued comics from every angle. They’re best known for three volumes of Marvel’s Patsy Walker: AKA Hellcat, IDW’s Edward Scissorhands, original series Spell on Wheels from Dark Horse, as well as the webcomic Valley Ghouls. They’ve worked on everything from Vampirella to Transformers. A full list of comics credits can be found on ComicVine.

In 2016 they moved to Los Angeles to pursue animation. At Hasbro, they worked on My Little Pony and its sister series Equestria Girls, also editing and writing for Littlest Pet Shop and Hanazuki. While writing for the first season of Transformers: Cyberverse, they consulted on developing pitches and properties for major studios, something they still love to do remotely. You can also find their work on seasons 3-5 of Polly Pocket as well as Craig of the Creek and Bravest Warriors. A full list of credits can be found on IMDB. Kate is a member of the Writers’ Guild of Canada and the Animation Guild.

Kate has been doing design work since 2012 for bestselling writers such as Cassandra Clare and Holly Black, as well as hit podcasts Welcome to Night Vale and The Adventure Zone. Kate loves to design unique, fun and collectable merchandise. Whether it’s enamel pins, show posters, twitch layouts or t-shirts, Kate brings a perfectionist eye and delightful style to each project. You can find their personal shop on Topatoco.

Kate is also an embroiderer, poet, makeup artist, photographer, and built a surprisingly decent following on Tiktok while documenting their recovery from top surgery. They live in Halifax, Nova Scotia with an absolutely ridiculous cat and several regrets. They are queer and genderfluid/non-binary, a fact that greatly influences their work. Kate uses they/them pronouns, but probably won’t correct you.
